I think what you are asking is about checking a voicemail message left on your cell phone from your land line. If I am wrong, please correct me.
To check, call your mobile phone number from your landline. When the greeting starts playing, press the # key. It then will prompt for your password. Enter your password and you can listen to all voicemail messages you have received.

if you want to remotely check your voice mails left on your home phone, it depends on your messaging service. if the feature is available with your homephone, you would call your home phone number. when you hear your answering message you need to interrupt the message by pressing the # button. then follow the prompts. it should ask for a Passcode that you set up.
if you want to use a home phone to check messages left on your cellphone, you call your cellphone, interrupt the message by pressing #, then follow the prompts.

I have been in the cellular phone industry for 12 years, I have worked the front lines as far as sales and tech support. I am knowlegable in many aspects of the industry.
You can check it simply by calling your home number when the outgoing message comes on press # it will then prompt you for you pin number and you'd get your messages normally from there. Else if you have your voice mail access number, you can call that and it will prompt for your home phone and pin and you can go that route.
