Azuza, your question reached the Bank of America section and I'm sorry to say I'm unfamiliar with the policies of Wells Fargo. Perhaps you could try posting again? I'm sorry and do wish you the best.

    Azuza,

If you provide this individual with your account number, they will be able to walk into local branch and make a straight deposit into your account.

    Hope that helps!

Anyone can deposit money into your account without your consent, if you think this is some kind of fraud, then report to bank.

If you spend it, and they ask for it back, they'll sue you for it, and they will win.

Just because the money's incorrectly in your account doesn't make it yours. Identical to lets say your friend leaves their car in your drive way. Doesn't mean it becomes your car. Just because it's a bank doesn't make it any different.

I'm not giving a moral lecture, just the facts.

They will work out that they've paid into the wrong account and they will ask for it back. Maybe just transfer it into a linked high interest account and leave it there and when they ask for it back just keep the interest?!

Be aware of these types of scams.

    Hope this helps.

    Hello,

to deposit money without your presence, the person would need your account number. This is not your debit card number. Your account number could be found in your checks. If you can't find it, you can try to give them your debit number, but it would be an exception that the manager makes.
