You do have an unfortunate situation. This will need the assistance of one of our supervisory agents at 1 800 300 1547. At this time there is no such waiver, however these supervisors are equipped with authority to allow such waivers. Goodluck!

United was offering waivers for interrupted travel during and immediately after the hurricane. There is no waiver for tickets that far in advance unfortunately. It never hurts to contact Customer Care at United.com and ask for an exception. If you have a non-refundable ticket you won't get a refund but you may be able to reschedule your ticket for a later date. Exception Policy (Sev 1) EWR/NYC - February 14 - 25, 2013
We implemented an exception policy (Sev 1) for New York/Newark. Due to the effects of Superstorm Sandy, the New York City public school system canceled its February, 2013 mid-winter break.
We implemented the exception policy to allow customers flexibility to reschedule their February vacation plans.
Cities Impacted: EWR / HPN / JFK / LGA
Travel Dates: February 14 - 25, 2013
Sev 1 – Customers are permitted to make a change to travel plans with the change fee waived.
