My HTC G2 just keeps on restarting.

My HTC G2 just keeps on restarting. It was working fine until I went into Settings to turn on wifi. It froze, then I saw the startup T-Mobile splash screen. Before it could restart completely, it went back to the startup splash screen again. It just keeps doing this and never finishes starting up.

UPDATE: I left my (powered off) phone charge overnight and this morning it was able to start just fine, with wifi turned off, though. It asked me if I wanted to send a crash report back to HTC, but I said "no." Crisis averted.

you're going to have to do a factory data reset:

Turn the power off. If your HTC G2 is frozen, pull the battery out and reinsert it
    Hold the Volume Down button
Press and hold the Power button until the device turns on
You are now presented with a menu that allows for Fastbook, Recovery, Clear Storage, and Simlock
Select Clear Storage by pressing the Volume Down button
Press and release the Power button
Now simply confirm your decision: Volume Up for YES and Volume Down for NO

this WILL wipe the phone out, but it would be what customer service would tell you to do anyways if you were shooting for a warranty exchange. you would qualify for this exchange as long as the phone does not have any physical or water damage...hope this works

Last time it did that, I was able to let it charge overnight and then it started, but with wifi turned off. I hadn't attempted to turn on wifi until today. Can you think of what might have happened that time that I was able to salvage the phone without losing everything that's on it?

I had 3 stars on 38/40 Tattooine levels in Angry Birds Star Wars! :-(

buddy I totally get what you mean.....I had a perfect 3 starts in every angry birds game until I had to wipe mine.....that was a year ago and I'm still working my way up to the newer ones.....on Rio now....seems like I'll never catch up and no one feels my pain.....the problem with smartphones is that it literally could be anything. It could be a new app you downloaded. it could be water getting into the could be a drop of the phone that knocked something loose. It could even be a random glitch in the the case of repeated resets, they will always tell you to wipe it, and if it doesn't help just get it replaced. the phone wipe is the standard go to procedure, because in this particular malfunction that is pretty much all you as a customer are able to do troubleshooting wise....

I left my (powered off) phone to charge overnight and this morning it was able to start. Wifi is still off and I don't dare try to turn it back on, but all my apps are there, including Angry Birds. :-) I just thought you might find it interesting.

do you have any extra wifi apps that you added?

Not that I know of. Last thing I installed was a periodic table app, but it started acting up way before that. It's too long ago for me to remember what I had done just before. At the time, I had turned off wifi in an attempt to save on battery life. I was trying to turn it back on because 4G can be so slooow sometimes.

interesting.....while I think the phones needs another wipe, I looked around and I found a back up app for angry birds that might be worthwhile....I think there are a few of them on the market...might be something you (and I) should look into...

I would definitely recommend doing a factory data reset/restore and make sure you have the latest software installed. If the problem still persists and its still under warranty I would visit a local corporate location and have them ship you out a new one.
