Sweet Joe. Noe you need to plug the CAT5 Jumper cable to the back of the Modem and the other end to the Router WAN just like the instruction states. If you have another CAT5 jumper, connect one end to the back of the router and the other end to your CAT5 port of your Laptop/PC Tower.
Now every New WiFi router has the IP Address which is located on the bottom of the router.
In order for the router to have access to the internet, power cycle both modem & router so that they sync up. Once they sync up, you should have internet.
once you have internet, type the ip address which is shown on the sticker on the bottom of the router.
This will bring up a prompt asking for the user name & password.
Ask indicated on the sticker, Type "admin" for user name.
for password type "password" This will give you access to the Admins page for setting up your WiFi.
** If it's a Linksys, Cisco router, they do provide a Self instal disk that does everything for you except giving your router a SSID Name which you will be prompted to fill in and a Security Phrase which will be the Wep Key/ Security Key which you will need to remember.
What every you do, Don't throw away that instal Disk. It comes in handy when you least expect it.
Just follow the instructions. You should be good to go.
Good Luck.3 comments
