When I press the Guide button, I get a list of my channels in numerical order.

When I press the Guide button, I get a list of my channels in numerical order. However it does not have the lowest number at the top. Is there a way to specify a default channel to be at the top? all my local channels are at the top of the list so I would like the list to be displayed there. Right now it displays starting in the 200s. I am use the whole home genie system.

Keith, by default your local channel should appear at the top of your guide list. Since it is missing - unplug the receiver for about 30 seconds to reset the receiver. it will update your guide. The full guide will take up to 24 hours to update to the 14 days preview.

Meaning some items in the guide will show to be announce - however the most recent information should display after the reset

I'll give that a try, but it is not that the channels are not displayed. If I scroll up they are their, I want them to be displayed upon first arrival to the guide, so I don't have to scroll to get to channels I access most often.

See only those channels you're subscribed to.
Your DIRECTV receiver displays by default all the channels DIRECTV offers in the program guide whether or not you subscribe to them. But you can actually limit the displayed channels to just those you subscribe to.
If you have an HD receiver or an HD DVR:
•Press GUIDE on your remote then select All Channels
•Press the YELLOW button on your remote to display the Guide Options menu
      •Select "Change Favorites List"
      •Select "Channels I get"
You'll now see only the channels you subscribe to. "Channels I get (fav)" should be displayed in the bottom left corner of the guide screen.
If you have a standard receiver or a DVR:
      •Press GUIDE on your remote
•Press the YELLOW button on your remote to display the Guide Options menu
•Select "Change Favorites List." You can set up one of the two custom lists to include channels you subscribe to. For this example let's use Custom list 1
      •Select "Setup Custom 1"
•Press the right arrow to highlight "Add Channels I Get"
      •Press SELECT
•Press the LEFT arrow twice. A message will pop up asking if you want to change the current favorites list to the custom list you just defined.
      •Select "Yes, change current"
      •Press GUIDE on your remote
The Guide will now display only the channels you subscribe to. "Custom 1" should be displayed in the bottom left corner of the guide screen.
NOTE: You must have a Standard receiver (model D10-100 and above), HD receiver (model H20 or above), Plus DVR (model R15 or higher) or Plus HD DVR (model HR20 and higher) to use this feature.

*To access DIRECTV HD programming, HD equipment required. Number of HD channels based on package selection. Limited movie titles available in 1080p. To view programs in 1080p, the following are required: a DIRECTV Plus HD DVR Receiver (model HR20 or later), an HDMI cable connecting the receiver and the television, and a high-definition 1080p24 television. Not all models are compatible.

your still not understanding the issue. I am indeed using a custom list. but the guide pops up beginning with channel 204 and I have to scroll to get to the local channels at the top of the its each time. I want to the guide to display the list of my channels beginning with the lowest number.
    • AnswerMan

Although you can custom your guide and set favs. the guide will always start displaying based on what channel you are currently on - their currently is no way to preset the guide to start with your local or lower number.
example if I'm current on channel 245 (TNT) and press my guide it will start with channel 245 in the guide. Say I'm watching channel 11 (KTTV - Los Angeles) and press my guide button it will start from channel 11.
      I hope that helps

Okay, I understand, it puts the channel being watched at the top, that helps.

You are correct; sorry, that's not what you were wanting. Current limitation on DirecTV receivers. I have forward up your request to customize the guide. Other customers want to change the color of the guide and that can not be done at this time either.

Hi! I am currently working for DirecTV and truly enjoy helping my cusotmers! I have also worked for Charter,...

The answer here Keith is no, really. There isn't a specific procedure to make it start at your local channel when the guide pulls up. It is always going to start on whatever channel you are watching. You can just type in the first channel number after pulling up the guide and it will go to the start of your channel list. I'm sorry your answer wasn't immediate.
