My Direct TV keeps "shutting down" and restarting, this problem is becoming worse, 3-4 times per night. We have 2 receivers and they both shut down simultaneously. Help?

This is a problem with r equ. It sounds like a switch outside that goes to the satellite. Please call 1-800-531-5000 so we can get a tech out right away.

I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful, but when it's both receiver acting up its a part outside. R receivers r hooked up to switches tat r wired to the satellite outside. This could also b ur lnbf which is the eyes of ur satellite.

Thank you for your assistance....talking with Direct TV now. They say this is a "known issue". Still happens every 30 mins, literally....Crazy!!! Will probably need a tech.

If both receivers are doing it then it maybe an electrical problem. Do you notice if your power is flickering? I would suggest calling 18005315000 and asking for tech. They can send a tech out.

I can honestly say I have never seen it happen to multiple receivers. I would really hope a tech can come out and fix it.

      Hi Satman,
In talking to Direct TV, they tell me this is a "known issue" apparently happening to other people. It's like clock work now, every 30 mins it's shuts down and reboots for 5 mins. There's a window that pops up for a split sec that says something about the signal being weak. Direct TV said they have engineers working on software to fix this problem. They also wanted to sell me two new receivers of theirs. Obviously I declined. But they did offer me free 6 months of Starz and 3 months of HBO. I'm pretty sure this is a direct TV issue. I hopeful this problem is resolved soon.

I am happy to hear they are taking care of it. Make sure to keep track of how long you are going without service and if it continues for much longer then call and ask for a outage credit. We can issue time without service credit to the account.

Both at the receivers at the same time is rare. There is either a power issue with the outlets or a software issue. Either way, your best bet is to call 18005315000 and get a technician out there for a service call.

This is often a sign of a receiver failing, but as SATMAN stated two at the same time is just odd! It's possible they could both be failing, but also could be electrical. Definitely call, and either 1) you'll get new receivers or 2) have a tech come out to look at them. Sorry we can't do more for you here.

How rare that both receivers are cutting out. Hard to speculate from here. Usually when 1 receiver starts resettig it needs to be replaced, but both receivers at once as everyone else said is usually an electrical issue. Call 1-800-531-5000 and speak with Technical Support. They will do 1 of 2 things: 1) replace both receivers, 2) send a tech to your home. When you call, be prepared for some hands on troubleshooting.
