771A - Problem Communicating w/ Dish - can appear at bootup or reset when the SWiM isn't detected, which can cause SFSS. Verify the SWiM Power inserter is plugged in securely and the green light is lit. The power strip or surge protector simply must be plugged in and ensured it's on and working.
While it may be beneficial to ensure a device is definitely plugged in by plugging it directly into a wall outlet . A.If the green light is blinking: The power inserter cord may simply be loose. If not loose and the light is still blinking, a service call is most likely needed to correct distribution issues. B.The power inserter should have a label reading, "Continual AC power is required for DIRECTV operation through-out the home." C.The label may be orange, white, or red.Verify that the SAT-IN 1 cable is securely connected to back of the receiver.

how long has the system been installed ??/ it could be a series of failers .most likely hope you have dpp.directv protection plan.a roll back will be free.if not its $49.99 truck roll add dpp for 20cents a day $5.99 a month most techs have this and we can fix our own problems .but we have to pay for the recivers if we dont have dpp.

"771A" is an error code that indicates your receiver is having trouble communicating with your satellite dish. As a result, your TV signal may be interrupted.
To solve the issue, you can try a few things:
1.Make sure all the cables connected to your receiver are secure.
2.You may have a device in your setup that looks like the device pictured here. This is called a SWiM Power Inserter. Make sure it's plugged into an electrical outlet or an active power strip and the cables connected to it are secure. Do not plug in the SWiM Power Inserter to an power outlet that can be turned off or this could continue to impact your viewing experience.
3.If all of these connections are secure, try resetting your receiver. On some receivers, there is a small red button inside the access card door on the front panel. Simply press this button and wait for the receiver to reset. If you have a receiver that does not have this button, you can reset the receiver by unplugging the power cord for 15 seconds and then replugging it.
