Does Wells Fargo have an arrangement like Bank of America has with Banco Santander for its customers visiting Mexico? I am referring to no ATMs fees for BOA customers in Mexico at Banco Santander ATMs. I am hoping that Wells Fargo offers its customers visiting Mexico something similar to avoid ATM fees. Thanks.

I've been in banking for 21 years. Chances are I know the answer, and if I don't I will find one for you.

    Hi Steven,

Unfortunately Wells Fargo has no agreement with any banks in Mexico. The only type of agreement I can think of is sending cash to Mexico through our Global Services department, but I don't think that is what you are looking for.

I would like to offer a couple of tips though: Before traveling, contact Wells Fargo at 800-869-3557 and place a travel plan for your debit and/or credit cards so there is less likely a chance that they are flagged for fraud. Also, keep in mind that the international fee for withdrawing money at an ATM is $5, and purchases cost 3% more due to a Visa surcharge. Perhaps you could visit Wells Fargo before you go and purchase some Traveler's Cheques? This could save you money in the long run.

Have a great trip, though Steven!
