My daughter's account was charged a $75 early termination fee for 2 phone lines on her account.

My daughter's account was charged a $75 early termination fee for 2 phone lines on her account. The upgrade date for each phone was 4/30/12. One of the lines was ported to another carrier on 4/15/12, and the other on 4/28/12. I feel $75 for each phone for early termination is an excessive fee. The first phone only had 15 days left, and the other one only had 2 days left. Can the fees for each phone be adjusted to a more reasonable charge?

I have worked as an RSR for Verizon for over 3 years.

Early termination fees start out at 175 per line and decrease 5 dollars per month. Most companies do not decrease the ETF.

The upgrade date on each line is actually 4 months earlier than the contract end date. The ETF charged was what your daughter agreed to contracturally and Verizon will likely not be willing to adjust the ETF, as courtesy credits are generally considered to be a customer retention tool. Now that you have disconnected, retention is no longer an option. I'm sorry to disappoint, I just tell it like it is.

YOU CAN PORT THE NUMBER BACK TO VERIZON WAIT 15 DAYS THEN PORT IT BACK OUT TOO THE OTHER CARRIER. ITS HASSLE BUT IT CAN BE DONE TO AVOID THE FEES

Your updrage date is 20 months into your 24 month comtract. UNfortunatley there really nothing that can be done as far as verizom is concerned. Talk to your new carriers rep, see if they can help u out with the fees

    ...because I said so!

ETF fees are part of the contract, and as such, the carrier may decide to NOT waive, unfortunately.
