I believe the answer is yes. Call customer care . They will tell you. If you can you must send the phone too them via mail for
    2-5 days for unlocking.

5 years experience in Verizon Wireless retail selling. Have been top salesman in the company for the last 6...

Verizon normally doesn't allow non Verizon devices on their network.
However, however since Verizon has purchases Alltel, they are allowing their phones on the network but I highly doubt that they would update the software on an Altell store. Reality is, if you walked into a Verizon store, chances are they would talk you into one of their own phones.

Honestly, you are better off upgrading your device anyway, just because you don't want to be dealing with any issues or headaches in the future. Verizon has a large selection of smart phones that you would be paying the same monthly for ($30) , but get more capabilities if you were willing to switch to a Iphone or Android.

I hope i'm not coming off as trying to get you into a new phone, but I honestly think that would be your most economical solution. Hope this helped!! GOOD LUCK!
