United lost my luggage on August 23, 2012 and I have not seen or heard anything since. They don't even communicate with us. What can we do?

Reservations, web, customer service, I am your wonder woman! I understand that some united policies are not...

    Jerry,
I assume you filed a claim right away. I would call the number on the form they gave you. There is an automatic system to check the status of your bags. I suggest that you gather reciepts for any toiletries or clothing that you have had to replace and submit that for reimbursement. You have a 30 day time limit on that.

I know you do not want to hear this but sometimes bags are not found immediately and not returned quickly. If you are persistant and continue to call about your bags you are more likely to get them returned. If you need a phone number it is 1800 335 2247.

Since it has been so long, I suggest that you begin replacing your items. Even if your bags are found and delivered to you, you will get reimbursed.

I am sure that this is not what you want to hear, but it is reality. The United merger overwhelmed management and staff and things are going to take some time to resolve. Absolutely, no excuse but this is what is happening now. I am so sorry for your inconvenience.

I have filled out the paper work on itemized list of items in suit case as well as case itself and have mailed it. Now waiting for united to respond. Thanks for your response. Jerry

I assume you filed a claim and have a claim number. They won't keep contacting you if there is no news. But, it never hurts to keep checking with baggage service. Here is the link to get in touch with them.

Also, if you are able to return to the airport baggage office in person, they may have information that is not yet in the system. Good luck!
