lost item

Item lost close to the one gate in O'Hare airport. It has been found by airport police and returned to unitied airline the same day but now I lost the track of the item because of the complicated lost-and-found system in United Airline. I filed lost item form and tried call custom service. Unfortunately, it seems that the ua system is taking forever to locate the item even if it's been found already!!!

Global resources for your trip. Currently Position- United Club; Main customer contact at the airport...

Guo, where are you. It is faster and less stressful if you drive directly to Ohares airport and get the item yourself. Dont forget to carry proof that you flown with United that day.
Please let us know where are you and if you need any United contact at the airport

Thank you for your answer. I'm in Dallas Texas. I asked the UA people in DFW and they said the only thing they can do was giving me the phone number for baggage service. I called them. Three times. Each time I got a different answer. And it's been one week now still no one contacted me.

      Guo,
If the item was found and delivered to united lost and found, now it is united s responsibility to return the item to you. Do you have any proof of purchase.. like a receipt. if yes, you can file a police report and fax to united lost and found as well to customer relations, in order to speed up the process at the lost and found dept.

Keep calling united and do not give up. If the item is there, maybe you will have to assume the usps expenses or dhl for expedite shipping.

It's a camera and I know the last picture taken by it. How do you file police report? From here or Chicago? And thanks for your advice I will call them again. Would you mind provide the number of UA lost and found Dept which I could speak to a real person? The first few times I called the customer service and I think they don't know much about what happened in Chicago. The number they gave me were voice mail that I couldn't get information directly. Thank you very much!

A lost item can take time to locate, and YOU are responsible for retrieving it. If you are no longer in Chicago, you will have to wait to have it sent to you at a later date. Sorry!

The problem is that it seems like no one knows the status of that item. Is it still in Chicago? Is it at somewhere else? The customer service seems to have no way to track it down for me.

It is surprising that the Chicago Police would turn the item over to United, not knowing who's it was. It could have belonged to an airport employee, not working for United. I would contact the airport police and file a report. Hopefully, you got the name of the police officer who told you it was turned over to someone by them.
    • Guo

They turned it because I said it belongs to a UA passenger. I don't think the police woman told me the name. Much appreciated for your effort and fast reply! Please keep me posted!
