IM TRYING TO BECOME A FLIGHT ATTENDANT BUT IM NOT SURE WHAT SCHOOLS ARE AVAILABLE AND WHAT I NEED...
-
Hi Amanda !
I recently retired from UNITED and it is a terrific Company to work for ! Please do not even think again about Airline Schools ....they are not necessary to become a Flight Attendant ! You will "1st " need to make application and to do this go to this Web Site and get your necessary Application Process started . The Web Site is : https://www.united.com/en-US/content/company . After completion of your Application Process you will then be notified where you are to go for your "1st " Interview !
I think it is advisable to wear a Solid Color Suit , Dress Blouse , Nylons and Short Heels . At the Intetview you will be required to sell yourself to the Interviewer as to why you would be a Good Flight Attendant ! You will be asked several questions about yourself and your Qualifications etc. If you make a Good Impression and they are interested in knowing more about you ...you will be notified and you will be invited for a "2nd " Interview . Relax , Smile and be Confident as to why you want this Job .....there is ALOT of Competition so give this Interview your Very Best Efforts !
When you are accepted as an Applicant for Flight Attendant Training you Report to their Training Facility and your Training , Room and Board , and Meals are totally paid for by the Company . During Training you are Not Paid any Monies . Your Salary begins after you Start Flying ! The Training is very extensive with ALOT of Information to retain in a short amount of time ! Your Attire while in Training is Business Attire daily. You will also need some extra money ( spending etc. ) they will advise you as to the amount . On weekends if from Chicago you are able to leave the Facility to go home and return on Sunday Evening . Others are permitted to go Downtown and visit the area etc. Weekends are usually spent relaxing and on Couple of the weekends you have your " Training Flights " where you Assist the Flight Crews out of O' Hare and also Assist on a Returning Flight later in the Day . It is ALOT of Fun the Flight Crews are very nice to the Trainees ....they were also Trainees at one time !
Amanda ....I wish you the Very Best during the Interview Process etc.. I wanted this Job so very much and I let my Interviewer Know this also ! Give it your Very Best ....it is a Wonderful Job that is hard work , long hours but also so very rewarding and so much fun !
Please let me know if I can answer any other questions that you may have now or perhaps later !
Sincerely , Nancy " GW "0 comments1 other expert is backing this answer

Here's the link to employment at United Airlines:
https://www.united.com/web/en-US/content/compan...
As a flight attendant for nearly 30 years, I can tell you that airline schools are generally a waste of time. A high school diploma is minimum, but a 4 year degree would make you more competitive. Financial aid would be available through your university. United will pay your expenses but no salary during training and there is no cost to you. The most important quality is your personality and your willingness to work very long hours. In most cases, you will have to relocate. It can be a great career but there are lots of ups and downs. -
GLOBAL CONCIERGE
Global resources for your trip. Currently Position- United Club; Main customer contact at the airport...
Amanda, in addition, `you can apply for non US carriers as well. I know that EMIRATES airlines makes assessments days worldwide. Singapore and Qatar airways as well. The benefit packages are good, some of them require you to move to another country but it s a very good salary in a 1 to 3 years contract.

Dude
I have been employed with United Airlines, American, and Delta for last 30 years, currently with Independent...
My daughter was hired last year as a flight attendant without any formal education, she has a few years of history working in customer service roles, I can tell you it's all about being able to sell your self through a multi interview process on same day! She had applied the year prior and did not make the cut! More so because there is quit a few flight attendants out there that do not have jobs, so your going to be competing with those who have been there done that! All I can say is stay determined and continue to apply with all airlines! And even if not hired first time, continue to apply and reapply! There will be a grace period of 6 mo before you can reapply to most Airlines if you don't get hired intially! Good luck, and stay motivated, and keep at it, if this is what you desire! Never quit
