I am booked on UA869 to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia that departs TODAY!

I am booked on UA869 to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia that departs TODAY!, but this flight should have been changed to a later date by my hosts in Malaysia. They booked my flight and I can't change it. I didn't know that they still had me booked on today's flight until I got the email that I could check in this morning.
Please note that I will NOT be on today's flight and my seat will be available.

    I understand your frustration. You need to contact your travel agent to see what concessions they will give you. If you need to make a change there is a change penalty from United, but perhaps your travel agent should absorb that fee due to the change. If United made a change of more than 2 hours they will will waive change penalties and possibly even the difference in fare. Contact your travel agent to make the fix.

    Click on the link below to cancel your reservation. There will likely be a change fee when you rebook, but at least you can get credit for this ticket. How much that cost depends on the type of ticket you have but is usually $150 for the bargain tickets unless there is a reason such as illness that you can substantiate. At least you discovered this before the flight departed. Best of luck!

      Thanks! I didn't see the option to Cancel. Do I have to call the reservation office? I hope not, because I don't have time

      No need to call anyone. Just be sure and save your confirmation number which you will need when you do rebook. No worries!

      Thanks so much. I went ahead and called the airline. Went quickly (Amazingly!!) because of my premier status. So now is cancelled.Whew! And thanks so much for your help!!

    Go to United.com and click Change/Cancel using your confirmation number to release your seat. It will be very helpful to others. You will need to contact your hosts for rebooking, there may be some value left in your ticket. Good luck!
