If you have not already done so, contact: www.united.com/feedback, explain you have gone about this for a while, its a vicious cycle right now till we hit the anniversary date of 3 March 2013, when all old certs will be over a year old, and these problems will not exist. WonderKaty
Reservations, web, customer service, I am your wonder woman! I understand that some united policies are not...
I have two suggestions:
First, call the supervisors at the web support desk 1800 300 1547. These people have access to many data bases which could hold the information that you need. Tell them exactly what you advised here. I would try the Spanish option and make sure this is an agent in the North Houston Reservation Center. These agents all have more than 10 years and tons of experience, access to special data bases and authority to make expections to policy.
Simultaneously, I would contact Customer Care by email link below:

Lastly, should these options fail, I would contact the Dept of Transportation:
Aviation Consumer Protection Division, C-75
U.S. Department of Transportation

Washington, D.C. 20590

If you have to contact the DOT, you should also contact United's CEO

Unfortunately, since you didn't use the travel credit at the same time it will be almost impossible to trace. It is a travel credit and not a ticket so does not have cash value. You can contact Customer Care @ United.com and see if they will reissue them in good faith. Otherwise, since Continental no longer exists, it may be hard to track past records.
