    Hello Gabe,

    YES.

Please contact 1-800-UNITED-1 (1-800-864-8331) for assistance.

United recommends that all customers make their reservations as early as possible. We do not require information concerning the extent of a disability, however, the more information we have about you, the better prepared we are to meet your needs.

In addition to requesting special assistance when making your reservation, please let our airport employees and inflight crew members know of your special needs during your travel. Friendly reminders to our employees are always appreciated and will help us place a face with a request for assistance.

United requires forty-eight (48) hours advance notice and an hour in addition to the published airport check-in processing time of your originating airport if you:

    Airport wheelchairs
We have wheelchairs available for use at each of our airports. If no wheelchairs are in view upon arrival, please ask a skycap or agent for help. The usual width of these wheelchairs is 18 inches (45.7 cm).

    Aisle wheelchairs
We also offer aisle wheelchairs for transferring non-ambulatory customers to and from their seats on the aircraft.

Absolutely. It is a violation of the ADA law to deny you boarding. When making your reservation make sure you make your request and indicate whether you are ambulatory or not. That way, they know whether you are able to walk to your seat from the boarding door or require extra assistance. Go to United.com and click on Special Services.

As a Gate agent, I will tell you that the above is correct. The ADA and the ACAA (Air Carrier Access Act) require us to make Reasonable Accomodation for people with disabilities. You can travel with your own chair or use ours at the different airports. But Please get there a little early so we have time to give you the kind of service most dignified for you.
