Am I correct, does a carry on, if within size limitations, have no weight restrictions?

Accepted answerHello SJ
The overhead bins are designed to support more than 23kilos BUT, imagine if all the passengers decides to do the same... So United recommends that you keep your carry on under 50lbs, and of course, the size dimensions to fit as well.
If, for instance, the flight attendant verify that your carryon is over sized, them your carryon will be checked to the cargo at the aircraft door.
So United is encouraging passengers to carry on only personal effects and carryon tht fits the overhead bin. Weight restrictions on the carryon is not an issue but you should be aware, besides, will be very heavy for you to lift and acommodate over the seat... and in an emergency situation, if one of the bins opens accidentaly, can hurt somenone as well. -

For United Only, but gate agents can make their own discretionary decision if it appears to be more than 50lb.ou will not find this any where, but who would want to carry more than 50lbs carry on?

Those are only recommeded weights. Remember, if you can't carry it, it's not carry-on. You also have to be able to lift it. Flight attendants are not allowed to lift overweight bags over their heads. They can only point you in the right direction. If you don't plan on traveling with a personal valet, I say check it and avoid the hassle!
