If you have a 4g device your able to switch to it by turning the 4g off. Depending on your device there's different ways to do it.

The only 4G phones so far have been Android phones so you would find the switch under Settings->Wireless and Networks->4G settings. Depending on which phone you have, there may also be a quick toggle or widget that you can tap to turn 4G off and on. If you tell me which phone you have, I can tell you exactly how to do it
