Is there any flieghts available for reserve?

Is there any flieghts available for reserve? My daughter is expecting in April, 1st baby so could come anytime within 2 weeks of due date. I am limited to time off so need to wait until last possible moment to confirm flight. Do you have any program for expecting grandmothers?

    Hi Dorene,

Congratulations on the pending arrival of your little angel-that's very exciting!

What I recommend for your situation is that you go ahead & purchase a full fare ticket rather than a discounted one. The full fare ticket allows you flexibility to change your flight dates & times, if needed. It is more expensive, but you may find that the peace of mind & the built-in flexibility are well worth it. You can buy the ticket now, & simply wait for that phone call from your daughter. If the birth is delayed past the due date, or if the baby comes before your flight date, you can easily change your itinerary.

A discounted fare (also known as the lowest fare or "Wanna Get Away?" fare as posted on SWA's web site) limits your usage to the dates you reserve to fly. Now, you may still change flight dates under a discounted fare, however, you will most likely be required to pay the difference between your discounted fare & whatever the full fare price is for your particular booking. Basically, the flexibility to change your flight dates on a discounted ticket comes with a cost for that convenience.

For more guidance and other options for your specific city pairs, I recommend you give the SWA toll-free reservation line a call; 1-800-435-9792 (1-800-IFLYSWA). The reservation agents are super helpful, and can provide you with excellent counsel.

Hope this helps, and again, best wishes to you & your family!

I have worked at the airport as a Customer Service Agent. I have worked in Reservations and I am a flight...

How wonderful for you and your family!! There might be another option depending on your age. If you happen to be 65 or older Southwest offers senior citizen fares that are lower than a full fare ticket, but higher that a Wanna Get Awy Fare. The great thing about those fares that in addition to the discount, they are fully refundable and exchangable. Not sure if this applies to you, but if it does it would be another option for you. You can make a senior fare purchase online at southwest.com or call and speak to a reservation agent at 1-800-435-9792.
