Don't listen to those guys sometimes they don't know what their talking about as long you have a coble from the satellite dish to the recover you should be ok the only time that won't work is if you have the hopper system otherwise it should be all good.

Just so u know if u have a 1000.4 satellite on ur home a standard receiver will not work. If u have a 1000.2 or a dish 500 u can have any of r receivers except the hopper. I've been a tech 11 years & there right!!!! Thank u & let me know if u need more assits. :)

You could add on but it would be a paid tech visit to run as line from the dish to rcvr

It is possible. Of your dish is pointed to the Eastern Arc, it will not work. The best way to know is to go to your working receiver, press Menu, 6, 1, 1, and Check Switch. If you see numbers like 72.2/77, an SD receiver will not work. If you see 110/119/129, it should work, and I would call in again at 18003333474 to have someone add it to your account.
The problem is that on the EA satellites, they are using a newer compression method that isn't supported on the older receivers. Unfortunately that comes at the cost of not being able to support the older receivers.
Let me know how your experience goes! -

Check your dish...if it has three fairly equally spaced "eyes" and faces more or less southwest, you have a western arc dish and ANY receiver you hook up will work. If the dish has two "eyes" close together and one set further apart, it is an eastern arc dish and you MAY have some issues but it should still work if it is fairly new. Just do the check switch mentioned above.

you will have to call to verify your equipment such as the dish. if the existing dish isn't compatible with the new receiver then you can always add another dish that will work.
