I canceled DISH service in May/June 2011, payed the final bill and sent back the equipment.

I canceled DISH service in May/June 2011, payed the final bill and sent back the equipment. I moved to Wisconsin and recently moved back to Ca. and days ago a collection delinquency for $16 showed up on my credit report. When I called to find out what it was the collection agency had a hard time telling me and finally traced it to DISH through my cell phone #. I never received a bill or notification of owing anything after my final bill and I pay all of my bills including DISH online so it does not matter what state I am in. No one one including any collection agency alerted me to this matter before slamming my credit report. I only know about this because I monitor my report monthly or more. How can I get this off my report now? I don't care about the $16 even though I am probably being ripped off by DISH. If I had known about it I would have paid it rather than let it become a problem. I was to shocked when the person on the phone said it was a charge from DISH.

Trouble Shooting issues? no problem i can help u with almost anythin.

First you need to cal dish at 18003333474 and see where that charge came from, and see if you can dispute it and to remove it from your credit tou need a proof maybe last bill and proof of payment and you can call the credit bureau and disput it. It's a long shoot and you need proof of everything bu that's the only way to remove discrepancies on your credit report.

    Relax, I'm here to help!

i hate to say it but the charge is a legit charge from dish. it is the return fee for the equipment you shipped back to dish. it is not applied to your account until after they receive that returned equipment. it may not have gotten to you if you moved soon after sending it to them. you will want to call 1800333dish and speak with a customer service rep, this will probably be non productive so ask for a manager and then from there if not satisfied ask for the loyalty team. i'm not sure if this can be resolved without a payment but good luck and i hope it works out for you
