How large of an opening is required in the tree canopy to properly receive the signal for your dish?

Accepted answer
hmmmmm well as long as you know which direction the dish must face.
if you are putting the dish on a tripod , create a W shape with your thumb and pointer and look thru the center from behind the dish deflector, there should be no obstruction in between your 2 pointer fingers.
now install your dish and peak it between the trees.
good luck. -

The satellite 110 comes in higher than the 119 if u have the 500. If u have the 1000.4 it has 3 satellites & points higher than the 500. The signal comes in wide from the side. I've been a tech for 11 years & I was told when I 1st started to take ur arms out like ur going to hug someone. Make sure u do that & that will tell u as long as u have the right azimuth. If u have a zip code I can give u the correct #'s for r satellites.

It is really impossible to give an answer to that. There are so many factors involved including your location, the angle of the tree limbs, the elevation, which dish you will be using, etc. The best option is to have a DISH tech come out.
