      They could lose there programming, but if that does happen all u have to do is call Directv at 1-800-531-5000 & they will send programming right to it. It will take 5 mins and ur good to go.

    yes you can. the worst case senario is when you plug it back in you might have to call directv at 1-800-531-5000 to have your authorizations resent.

    Yes you can, but let me give you a bit of advice. Several people have mentioned losing programming. What can happen is your access card loses authorization and you will have NO programming at all. It will give you an error code in the 700's. I advise ALL customers do NOT call DirecTV if this happens. When an agent 'resends authorizations' it can take up to 24 hours and sometimes doesn't even work the first time. Go to www.directv.com and sign in to (or sign up for) account. Type in 721 in the search box. Next page will give you a link to resend authorizations yourself. It's instant and works every time.

It is possible that during that time you could get a message when you plug back in saying services have expired call customer service at extension 722 - you can either call in and a rep will resend the programming authorization or you can log onto your account at directv.com and resend your self.

    all of these answere are correct. however, by the term 'unplugging', you mean disconnecting from your account to save money.. then the answer is no. they wont disconnect for a week.
