Hi.

Hi. My father passed away end of 2012. He had dual UK and USA citizenship. I have followed all correct procedures and as next of kin need to find out how to access his estates in the US. Unfortunately my father was not very organised and didnt leave much paperwork, however i am away that he put money into TD bank abroad. How do i find out accessing the right information without paying dead money. I have death death certificate and am awaiting death report from the american embassy. Many thanks
Emma

Emma, in the U.S., individual states set the amount of estates that do not require probate. Your first step would be to contact his bank and confirm this amount. If his total estate is less than this amount, toy would, as next of min, be able to simply claim any funds in his account. If it is over the state allowance, the estate would be required to go through probate with an appointed executor. If you need futher assistance, don't hesitate to contact Directly.com. Good luck!
