I recently bought a Delta ticket through Expedia and tried to cancel.

Delta says they can't refund me because I didn't buy the ticket through them. This seems entirely unfair. It's a Delta ticket right? What can I do to get a refund? Please help.

Well, let me just tell you right out you're not going to like this answer!

I'm going to use this analogy to explain this. Say you LOVE Bluebell Ice Cream. You happen to live in Bremen, Texas and can buy the ice cream directly from the Bluebell Store or you can go to Walmart and buy it from them. If you buy it directly from the Bluebell Store and have a problem with it you take it back to Bluebell and they give you your money back. However, if you buy it from Walmart you have to take it back to Walmart to get your money back. Walmart bought the ice cream from Bluebell at discount prices because of the bulk quantity. Bluebell isn't going to give you your money back because they don't have it. Walmart does.

Delta doesn't have your money. Expedia does. Since you went through Expedia to purchase the ticket, they get to choose what they will and won't refund. So if you want a refund you need to talk to them. Sorry!
