I'm curious about the benefits that come with SkyMiles. Is there any way to move up from silver to gold to platinum to diamond without flying the qualifying miles?

Also, they have different phone lines. One is "priority", the "higher priority", then "highest priority", then "VIP line." What is the difference?

I have worked for Delta Air Lines for over 12 years. I have worked in Reservations, as a ticketing agent at...

You do actually have to fly to earn medallion status. You can get an American Express and earn miles, but those miles do not count towards medallion status. If you want detailed information about the SkyMedallion Medallion program just type in "Medallion qualifications" on delta.com.

The difference in the phone lines is that agents are trained to handle more areas the higher up they go. They hold times are also lower. The reason for this is many of the highest levels of medallions spend over $100,000 a year in tickets. This is one the of benefits we offer them in appreciation for their business.
