I would like to cancel my account with comcast but they say I am in a 2 year contract how can I...

Accepted answer
Make Comcast prove you're in a 2 year contract. Make them show you in writing. If Comcast tell you they have you verbally agreeing to a contract then check your local state laws. In some states verbal contracts aren't worth the paper they aren't even written on.

This expert is helping you out because there weren't many active Comcast experts.
there were many different 2 year promos out at one time. A lot of the gift card promo's did come with a two year agreement. when you got your reward, card/ rebate/ free modems. in the terms and agreements it states you are entering a two agreement.. silly us not reading those terms , i have done it myself. you can contact customer service, and they can tell you when you entered it, as well as how much it would cost to get out of it.. Most the agreements decrease in early termination fess the longer you are in it. In some cases, ( some being key word) they will be able to get you out of it, depending on what info they have in there system. they can get all that info, they have the power.lol.. My advise is to call into customer service, the calmer you can approach this the easier it is to communicate whatever it is they need to tell you. goodluck.

Unless you signed something then you dont have a contract, you should go down to your local payment center and turn in your equipment and get a reciept, at least there if they say your in a contract then ask them to verify it as you didnt sign anything,

There is no way to get out of the contract unless you are moving to an area that Comcast does not service. Please note that there is a prorated disconnect fee as well, contingent on how long you have had the service. Good Luck. PS Have you have the service less than 30 days? If so then you can cancel free of charge.

If you received any type of monetary compensation you will have that charged back to your account as well as the ETF. If you recieved a free product like a computer or other item you will be charged a prorated amount based on the value of the item and the ETF it could cost you a lot. If you are cancelling because you think a competitor is going to give you a better deal you better check out their offer very carefully before you agree to anything. In Verizon FIOS areas customer left Comcast in large amounts and were locked in to contracts many have switched back because the Fios service was not as good as what they got from Comcast.

Simply tell them you are moving out of the area. Gets you out of all agreements. But make them show you the agreement first.
