I have recently switched to Comcast phone service.

I have recently switched to Comcast phone service. The base phone near the computer seems to work, but the satellite phones in other rooms do work for incoming calls. The phones ring, but the line is just a buzz. We can call out on these phones though. We are missing many calls.

    Hello Diane,

Do you have your phone cord plugged into your wall jack or is it plugged into the back of the phone modem?

Are your satellite phones wired with just power or do they need to have a phone cord plugged in as well?

If these phones are free standing and do not require a phone cord, there may be some interference in your home. Try this:

Pick up one of the hand sets.

    Press MENU

Go through the options and locate CHANNEL. Try changing the channel on your phone system. That will allow you to change the channel the wireless phones use to communicate with their base.

Please message me back if you need further assistance and before you rate me.

Thanks for your help. Let me explain the situation more clearly. I have a Uniden DCT 748 Series base phone with 3 handsets that just plug in to an AC outlet. They all worked fine until I switched from Century Link phone service to Comcast Xfinity. The Comcast tech moved the base station next to the computer to set up service. The base phone works. The other handsets will ring and will call out, but if we try to answer the ring on a handset, we only get static or dead air.

Hello Diane, do you have a large home? Do you have a spare phone wire?
    • Diane

Our home is about 2100 square feet. My wireless Apple Express network is not strong if I move out of the room (I do not know if that is relevant to the phone.). I think I can come up with a phone wire.

Ok, with your new phone cord, plug it into the wall jack where the phone base used to plug into.

Grab the phone base that's next to the modem and remove the phone cord from the phone base. now, plug that into the nearest phone wall jack.

Take your phone base and plug it into the new phone cord you plugged in.

I do not have a phone wall jack close enough to the modem because the wall jack crosses the doorway. Right now the base is plugged into the modem.

How long ago was your install done?
    • Diane

We have switched to Comcast for phone two or three weeks ago, and since moving the base to the computer the satellite phones have been inconsistent. Yesterday, we did receive an incoming call on one. They always ring, but usually we have to get to the base phone to hear someone on the other end. The other phones usually only offer nothing but dead air or no response to our "hello."

Well, there are a few suggestions I can offer.

One is to call into customer service and jeep asking for a supervisor. Then explain that ever since you switched, your other phones stopped working and would like a lead tech to come out. Possibly relocate your modem closer to a phone jack. That way you can move your phone base to a more centrally located place in the house. That way the communication will be better between the base and satellites.

Another suggestion, call the customer service number for your phones and see if there us a setting on the phones themselves that needs to be changed.

Or, the very last option if you cannot get anything to work, is to exercise your 30 day money back guarantee. They will refund your money.

Hi Diane. This is most likely a phone issue and not the phone modem. Many times when the base phone loses power you will have to re sync the satellite phones back to the base unit. This happens with mine. Look up your cordless phone instructions on how to set them back up. This should resolve your issue. If not let me know and I will help further. What is the model number of the cordless phone?
