I have Cable, phone and TV service combined with Comcast, Frederick MD.

I have Cable, phone and TV service combined with Comcast, Frederick MD. I want to purchase a 45" HDTV 1080p 120HZ Tv. Will I need to buy anything different from Comcast? My bill is @$150/mo and I can't afford more monthly payments.

    CDV is my specialty

    Hello Bill,

There is no other required equipment to purchase or rent. But, if you want to utilize your new HD tv, you should subscribe to our HD service.

The prices differ in all areas. The best thing to do is call 1-800-266-2278 and have the rep price everything out.

But that's all voluntary. You'll just miss out on the fantastic clarity if you do not upgrade to HD service.

    I hope this helps.

Thank you Big B. Your answer is very clear. Our home has 3 floors so we have 3 tv's. Does the HD service extend to all 3 boxes or just to one?

      Hello Bill,

Different markets have different pricing. You will need to rent a cable box for all the HD tv's you want to have receive the HD service. The price does go up a little per box and you will need to subscribe to the HD service. If you only have one HD tv, you will only need to rent one HD cable box.

      Thank you, Big Bill,
You were very helpful. I decided to go to HHGregg and ask the questions face to face. They explained what I should purchase or rent from Comcast. Also, they explained the boxes and they explained the things that some people tell buyers to buy instead of going through Comcast. That was not his recommendation if it was available at Comcast. Your answer is consistent with his god advice. Thank you.

Nothing more than an HDMI cable as long as you have a HD box

6 years with Comcast, and 8 years in Telecom serving in varied roles from Direct Sales Representative, to...

Call your local office and tell them you want a direct sales representative to come to your home and consult with you concerning your services. Direct sales representatives often have offers that can't be had calling the office or by visiting in person. Also consider if you don't already have Internet service with comcast going to a Triple Play. The savings could save you enough that you could add a HD only box or a DVR which is always HD and still come out ahead. Also ask about whole home DVR if you have multiple HD tv's

Thank you, ComCal. Dealing with Comcast on the phone is like being strip searched. You can't go to the destination desired before being required to answer many questions of a personal nature. I understand privacy and confidentiality but they don't need that info before finding out why I'm calling them. I'm a customer and pay them a lot of money to be one. I went to HHGregg and asked all my questions. I got all my answers in a gentle informative way. They even explained the Comcast HD boxes, the DVR and HDMI. They encouraged me to purchase the HDDVR from Comcast and other things from them. Thank you for your help and I would refer people to insdr.

PC's, phone, internet, or cable TV issues? I can help!

For multiple Hd cable boxes, the first one is $10.00 per month. Additional HD boxes are $8.00 per month just like the standard definition boxes. If you wanted one that records, those are Hd Dvrs and they run $15.95 per month for each one. It is best to call our sales department to see if there are any special promos going on for the HD boxes and you will get the current pricing, including any discounted offers.

Thank you. I also heard they will take any digital boxes that I return off my bill so it is a swap for an HD box unless I add a dvr to the new box. I will only rent one of those. You did help,
    • Tech Geek

Yes exactly, Bill. They will remove any of the boxes you turn in and they will be removed off of the bill as well.

Sales and Service are my middle names

Find your local Direct Sales department and stalk out one of the reps, they'll give the best price on a triple play including HD. Ignore the prices on here, they are different in every market.

The tech people are good but the people at Comcast phone service are non existent. All you speak to is a voice mail and it is relentless and like the worst commercial describing a customer dealing with a machine instead of a customer. If there were a competitive market, Comcast would be a part of every conversation I have telling people find someone else. Good product, good office personnel, good installers, terrible customer service capability. lower than "-0"grade. I will tell everyone I know until they vanish.

Sorry to hear that but we aren't going anywhere, if anything we're getting more varied. Look out for Xfinity Home Security and Xfinity Cell coming soon.

    I fix it everytime

It sounds to me like HD should be included in your current package. To verify this check you last bill or go online and view your bill looking for anything that says HD under your television services. If it is on there alll you need is to get a HD box and an HDMI cable. Both can be provided by Comcast at no charge by visiting your local office and swapping your box and asking for an hdmi.
